Boxing Day is the day after Christmas Day.
Some believe that it’s called Boxing Day because everyone throws away their empty boxes and empty packages once they opened their gifts.
The real Boxing Day is different. It used to be when the servants and people who traded goods got gifts from their “bosses”. This was called a “Christmas box”.
Today we call the 26th of December (the day after Christmas) Boxing Day and sometimes also the first day or second day after Christmas. This is because of different laws.
For current times it’s simply a public holiday.
