Are tutors worth it?

Hi, I was thinking of using a tutor to help me with my results.

Are tutors worth it? I often hear of people going for tutoring with a private tutor and getting good results, but how can I be sure that tutors are worth it?

Thank you.

It depends on which tutor you go with. If you decided to hire a tutor with no experience or qualification then it might not be worth it.

It’s easy to get caught out by using a cheap tutor who simply wants to score quick cash from someone who needs genuine help. However, apart from fake “wanna-be tutors", proper tutors are certainly worth it. A private tutor will help you on a number of levels.

Most people simply focus on the marks, but a tutor will benefit you beyond that. They can help by means of, accountability, focus, encouragement and motivation. There's nothing worse than feeling alone during the peak of exam season.

There's also nothing better than having a tutor who went through the same situation as you, who knows the material, has experience and understands your needs. It’s the perfect opportunity for a student to gain insight into their subjects and what they’re up against.

If you are genuine and willing, then you will absolutely benefit from your own tutor.

The way to be sure is to hire a tutor who is proficient in the subject that you need help with. Hire your tutor from a reputable agent or choose one with good tuition experience and qualification.

Don’t be shy to ask about their qualifications, their study history and experience. That way you can be sure that the person you decide to hire will be worth it.
