Calculus is broken up into two main branches - differential calculus and integral calculus. Differential calculus (also called differentiation) is mainly used to determine the gradient of a curve ie. the steepness if it's slope. It determines the rate of change of that curve, so a steep slope is changing much quicker than a shallow slope. Integral calculus (also called integration) focusses on determining the area and volume of complex shapes. |
